So to update the Edmonton kicking saga. 2007 the Eskimos draft Warren Kean at 2nd overall. This off season they trade a 3rd round pick for the rights to Rob Pikula and a 3rd round pick. Pikula takes a non-football job and doesn't come to camp. On draft day the Eskimos trade a 6th round pick for Duncan O'Mahony who they later release when they trade for Noel Prefontaine and give up a 1st round and a conditional pick for.
Training camp starts and the Eskimos have 7 kickers in camp. Then at the end of training camp they cut Warren Kean because he was beaten in camp by Derek Schiavone. The next day they cut Schiavone. So the kicking position has cost Edmonton two first round picks, a 6th round pick, sliding down 6 places in the third round and a conditional pick that could be as high as a 3rd rounder.
