Default top 5 per position

my top 5 players per position for 2006:

QB:
1-Peyton Manning...no need to explain
2-Tom Brady...always consistent and their offense is passing more
3-Carson Palmer...great offense and shouldnt be slowed down by the injury
4-Marc Bulger...great offense
5-Eli Manning...plenty of targets and getting more experience

RB:
1-Larry Johnson...stud, but wont be as productive without Richardson
2-Shaun Alexander...not a fan of his, but he gets the job done for fantasy football
3-Tiki Barber...hasnt showed any signs of slowing down
4-LT...starting to break down, and his production should be hurt by the loss of Drew Brees
5-Clinton Portis...just a very good RB

WR:
1-Chad Johnson...dont really need to explain
2-Torry Holt...great hands and a very good QB. has other WRs to take the attention off of him
3-Steve Smith...should get more attention from defenses than last year and doesnt really have a good #2 WR on his team
4-Randy Moss...bad situation, but is too talented to not produce
5-Larry Fitzgerald...great player in a very talented offense. the team has a bad defense which will result in more passing

TE:
1-Antonio Gates...the best, and young QBs like to throw to TEs
2-Jeremy Shockey...very talented and Eli is starting to mature
3-Todd Heap...should benefit from having McNair throwing to him
4-Tony Gonzalez...not a stud anymore, but will still be effective
5-Jason Witten/Alge Crumpler/Chris Cooley...all 3 are good but have some question marks

team DEF:
1-Chicago...the best defense in the league
2-Carolina...very good all around
3-Indy...gets good sack #s and INTs
4-Pittsburgh...very good defense
5-Giants...great for sacks and takeaways

please post your comments on my picks(both negative and positive feedback is welcome) and your own lists

LT should be the number 2-3 RB, Eli and Bulger are a little high, but very well done.

All right, I stand corrected. Right after my above post I researched my leagues scoring last season and Eli was 6th highest scoring QB in my league last season. Jokes on me I guess.

no, I didn't know this was a fantasy QB scoring ranking, eli has some problems throwing sometimes, dude keys in on one guy and misses a ton of open reads, classic example is the chiefs game late in the season. They were lucky tiki was able to run through them, cause eli missed a ton of passes. He has some good games, but he still looks confused out there.

true you got me, but I still don't think that eli is anything special. He hasn't shown a consistency in completing passes or making the right defensive reads.

I think he sucks, and was pretty damn surprised to see he was the 6th highest scoring QB in my fantasy league last season.

Overall, you had good picks and I agree with them, but with a few differences in selection and/or order. Here's..

Mad Vikes Picks

QB:
1. Carson Palmer (if he can stay healthy)
2. Peyton Manning (#1 if Palmer isn't healthy/injury-free)
3. Donovan McNabb
4. Marc Bulger
5. Tom Brady (would have been my #1 pick 2-3 years ago, but no longer. May not even be in the top 5 next season if the Pats dynasty continues to crumble. Matt Hasselback or Eli Manning could take his spot.)

RB:
1. LaDainian Tomlinson (he's my #1 pick and served me well as my RB in 05)
2. Shaun Alexander (as far as I'm concerned, Alexander and Johnson are interchangable. Johnson could easily be #2 as well.)
3. Larry Johnson
4. Tiki Barber
5. Clinton Portis

WR:
1. Steve Smith (the monster from Carolina and even more potent with better support via the draft)
2. Chad Johnson (my very, very, very close #2)
3. Torry Holt
4. Marvin Harrison
5. Randy Moss
Note: I would have put Owens in the top 5 if he was still with the Eagles.

TE:
1. Antonio Gates
2. Tony Gonzalez
3. Todd Heap
4. Chris Cooley
5. Alge Crumpler (a longshot, but I think he has the ability to get the job done)

DEFENSE:
1. Chicago (agreed, the #1 defense in the NFL, bar none)
2. Carolina (also a very strong defense and a serious SB contender)
3. Pittsburgh (the results speak for themselves)
4. Indianapolis
5. Cincinnati

This refers to jarhead's. I dont think that Eli should belong up there, and I think you have to throw in Marvin Harrison.
