I play in a 16 team, head to head points-based mixed AL/NL league that allows two keepers. Mine are narrowed down to Johan Santana, Alfonso Soriano and Miguel Tejada. IMO, all 3 of them have top 10 value in a keeper league and now I have to choose which one to drop. How do you not protect one of them?! Anyhoo, I think I know what I'll do but I'm curious what others have to say. (That and it's time to get some baseball fantasy talk going in here.)



BTW, someone is trying to get the rules changed to allow 3 keepers rather than 2. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If that doesn't work out, I'll try to get the rules clarified regarding trading one of them for a draft pick so I at least get something out of it. (This used to be a yearly league and this is the first offseason as a keeper league so some things have never been discussed.)

Soriano is so much better than any other 2B its not even funny, dont even think about dropping him...

with Sammy Sosa heading to Baltimore, Tejada will have even more protection in that line up, keep him...

Santana had an amazing back half of the season and a very good first half...but he still isnt proven to the extent of a Soriano or Tejada at their positions...theres other solid pitchers out there who will likely have a better season than Santana....Soriano and Tejada are likely both going to be #1 at their position when the year is done...

not to mention, a pitcher will help you once every 5 games...Soriano and Tejada (especially Tejada) will help you every single game....tough to drop a Santana, but its the right decision...

I'd say keep Soriano. Both him and Tejada are very productive, but I think it's a little easier to find offensive power at SS than at 2B.

It's a tough call, no matter what I do. By our scoring system, Soriano was the least valuable of the three last season by quite a bit. I'm wondering how much of that was an aberration and how much he misses being part of the Yankees lineup. I just hope it gets changed to 3 keepers. I would have a helluva head start for defending the championship.
