I lost because my main leagues had later picks, and the middle tier backs like duece, Julius Jones, Mgahee, either sucked or were injured.

I won two of my four leagues. In one of those, I somehow got Shaun Alexander with the 8th pick and, in the other, I took Jamal Lewis with the 12th. In one league where I got knocked out in the first round of the playoffs, I took Clinton Portis with the 11th pick. The other one, I got knocked out in the semis. In that one, I took Edge 5th.

draft position doesn't matter one bit, i've won leagues picking 1st overall and picking 12th or 14th overall

Draft position isn't totally meaningless. You have an advantage if you can get one of the top 2 or 3 RBs. LT plus a low end RB is worth more points than 2 middle tier RBs, in most leagues. Plus, if just about everyone goes with 2 RBs, you'll get first crack at any QB not named Peyton or most good WRs. Depending on the league rules and the size of the league, what makes a good draft position varies. You can still overcome bad draft position but it's not meaningless.

I once played in an 18 team league and picked 18th overall and won the league.

postion means a lot less than your actual drafting ability. Sure their are spots where some people prefer to be, but a good fantasy drafted will be able to adjust.
Totally agree. In my longstanding money league I have won or made the championship game drafting 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 12th if I recall correctly. It doesn't matter where you draft.

I drafted 6th this year and made the championship game in one money league.

I drafted 2nd this year and Won the championship game in another money league BUT I was late to the online draft and the CPU drafted Peyton Manning for me instead of Shaun Alexander who I was going to draft. I still won though even with my 2nd pick being Ahman Greene.

I had Priest Holmes, Larry Johnson, Steven Jackson, Steve Smith, Larry Fitzgerald, TJ Housmansadeh, Drew Bennett, Chris Cooley, Miami's Defense, and Jeff Wilkins.

Since Peyton Manning wasn't going to play during our Championship game I picked up Boller off the waiver wire and started him.

I drafted 5th for both of the championships I was in.

Culpepper in one. And in my other league I got Deuce and Domanick Davis in consecutive rounds.
