The position I like the least on this team is corner. Anthony Henry might be backup and Taylor might not reclaim that starting spot for us. Unless Jimmy Williams or Zemaitis steps up I could be in trouble ...

tre, why the emphasis on the linebackers? Victor Hobson averaged just as many points as Crowell last year. Pierce should be the seconds or third pick and that's it.

LBs can make or break a run. Assuming the offenses of most teams are more or less equal, having a solid defense can be the difference between the paycheck and the "we'll be back next year" line. High scoring LBs should come at a premium. You can't just give those guys away.

I'd take solid LBs over Romo as a 3rd stringer any day.

There was a one point a week difference in Crowell and Henderson in our league as well. I didn’t realize they were that close. I’m going to have to look into Henderson. Isn’t Greenway supposed to replace him though?

Fletcher is a UFA and Buffalo isn’t expecting him back. Crowell played the weak side last year not the SLB, and he excelled there. Moving inside, if it happens, could make him top five.

Last season Bledsoe was given the T3 designation and nobody bid on him. If Bledsoe didn’t draw interest at all I’m thinking Romo will draw minimal interest this year. What I would like to do is trade Romo for a pick if I can. I feel good with Manning and Kitna right now and I plan on maybe taking Quinn with my second first rounder (I have the #1 and #8 overall picks in our rookie draft). Manning, Quinn, and Kitna.

Asomugha is another after thought. I wasn’t even considering bringing him back. Tackles are huge and he makes like 2 every three weeks. He’s never around the ball. You like him that much?
[/b]
Tony Romo is different than Bledsoe, though. Bledsoe is an aging star with maybe a year or two in the tank. Romo is on the rise and his stock is pretty high. You won't get him back. And I wouldn't consider Kitna's job necessarily safe. Romo should be a priority, even if you're considering bringing in Quinn. Kitna might last the season, he might not. He almost certainly won't be a starter next year, and you'll have to let him go. Quinn won't be ready yet, you'll still need a solid backup. Romo is the guy and the future. And as I said, if you really don't want him, just make him a lower tender and let somebody give you a pick for him.

Crowell...well, we'll see. I still don't think he's a top-three consideration. You MUST tag norwood and pierce. I just don't see the value in tagging Crowell right now. I think Romo will be much harder to re-sign. Crowell is still a fair amount of unknown, you will easily be able to outbid people for him. Henderson is another great alternative, as I've pointed out. I'm sure there will be other FA LBs or guys in the draft. Greenway will probably take over for Ben Leber...Henderson was on the brink last offseason but he turned in a great season and will not lose his spot. Either way, that doesn't matter, because you're letting him go.

I like Asomugha. I think they need more pressure from their ends. I think their offense needs to learn how to play, so that opponents are forced to run the ball. I think their DTs need to learn how to stuff the run, so teams won't do it every play. Basically, the talent is there for him to be Champ Bailey, but not the situation. He's not a keeper, no. But he's worth the risk as a low-cost FA. As you said, he doesn't get a lot of tackles, and nobody will really want him. You'll get him cheap.

How about trade Romo for a third if I can (if I can't that should say something about his value) and then make my restrictions:

1 Norwood
2 Pierce
3 Crowell

And then bring back Ashamooogamooga and Henderson if possible?
[/b]
How would you trade Romo when everybody knows he'll be a FA if you can't? I don't get it. Make him the third tier. Crowell is a Bill, coverage of that team is notoriously poor. Even if Fletcher signs with another team, how many people will even think twice about Crowell?

Asomugha is not a short-term answer to CB, not unless the Raiders improve a ton this year. But 2-3 years from now he's Champ Bailey. But who knows when he'll break out? Right now teams just avoid him.

Henderson is a priority FA.

You think Romo is going to be third-string to Kitna? I guarantee Romo has the better season.

Lock up Crowell. He is going to be our horse this year.

Well, its that kind of thinking that lost you the Championship and gave me a nice little cash deposit.

Linebackers are the theird highest scoring position in the league. You HAVE to have a good group to win in this league. You have to. Granted it's easier to field a good group than it is for say running backs, but you can't ignore the importance.
[/b]
I think the lack of disparity among linebackers is enough to warrant only tagging either Crowell or preferably Pierce. What if the Lions pass on Thomas and go qb in the draft? I just place more value on Romo than Angelo Crowell.
