Rivers is going to have a solid season, especially with V-Jack expected to breakout this year, and Gates and LT are always awesome targets.[/b]
|
You have to look at who should be ahead of him in fantasy stats this year. Manning, Palmer, Brady, Brees, Bulger, McNabb, Kitna, and Hasselbeck. They should all finish ahead of Rivers. That would make Rivers probably about the 9th best starting fantasy quarterback in a 14 team league. It's bottom half. Not horrible, but you aren't going to win games because Rivers is your quarterback.

Henry and Jones could both be top 5 RBs fantasy wise this year. They'll both put up 15-30 points a week.[/b]
|
I have Henry as my #11 RB and Jones as my #19 RB. Again, not horrible but not good either. Now your quarterback is below average and your running backs are at best average. I'm not sure what scoring system you are using to get these backs in the 15-30 point a week range, but its all relative. If average backs score that much in your league then the backs who are better score even more.

Moss will be solid again with Brady throwing to him, and Andre Johnson is always solid, and now that he has a reliable QB(Not saying Carr was bad, but still), he should do even better.[/b]
|
Moss I like in NE, but Andre Johnson is more name than actual production. He'll get a thousand yards and 5-7 touchdowns. Overall, this is IMHO his strongest position though. It's above average.
< average quarterback
= runnings backs
> wide receivers
< tight end
> defense
And the depth is poor beyond that. This is going to equate to a team that might at best, if lucky, will push for the final spot in the playoffs and get bounced once there. Most likely this team will finish a few wins behind that race though.

What's your top 20 looking like heading into this season? In the money keeper league, I have Jackson, Gore, and Portis/Betts at RB with P. Manning at QB. R. Moss, Galloway, and Branch line out my WR with KW2 at TE.
Man, that team is ****ing poised to win this league again next year and probably until either Gore or Jackson gets hurt. Somehow or another, I'll go into next season with 4 first round quality players (Gore, Jackson, Portis, Manning) with two of them being top 5 picks (Jackson/Gore) and the top QB.

You guys really brought me down.
By the way, I didn't draft a kicker, and I left the QB till the 6th round. You can grab an average-solid QB in the 6-9 rounds and a solid kicker after the draft.

Hey ... everyone has good and bad drafts. Maybe you are right about a few players that we are wrong about too. You never know. By the time the season starts the team might look better too.

This is why I'm not really a fan of drafts for fantasy football. Whenever it's practical to do so, an auction is much fairer. Drafting 13th, there is no chance whatsoever of landing LT, Jackson or any of the other top tier RBs. In other sports, drafting at the top isn't nearly as important as it is in football. LT alone is typically worth nearly as many points as both of the starting RBs that you can expect picking that late. That's too much of an advantage right off the bat.
I'd probably feel differently if I didn't ALWAYS pick in the bottom half.

It's sad how important those top tier RB's are.

Kevin Jones/Santana Moss/draft pick for Jackson - I actually got ripped at the time on paper. This was early in the season, maybe around week 3?
Dunn for Gore and a 3rd, how awesome did that one turn out? In all fairness, this trade was done after Gore had been fumbling like crazy and there was the threat he would lose RZ carries. The guy who made this trade led the league in wins all season.
Leinart/Barlow/IDP/two 1st rounders for Manning - this one paid off last season but should catch up with time. Barlow was a starter at the time. Leinart is going to be a stud and those two 1st rounders should come back hard.
Randy McMichael/Roy Williams (DAL) for KW2/IDP - About as straight as it gets.
Really, I was just in the right place at the right time for most of last season. None of those at the time were bull**** moves. It was just a classic case of buy low, sell high.
