Time to take my head coach.

Head coach- Mike Shanahan



Shanahan's success with the 49ers earned him a head coaching spot once more, this time back in Denver with the Broncos beginning in 1995. Shanahan led Elway and the Broncos to back-to-back Super Bowl championships in the 1997 and 1998 seasons, during which time the Broncos set a then-record for victories in two seasons. He was the last coach to win two consecutive titles until New England's Bill Belichick did it during the 2003 and 2004 NFL seasons. Between 1996-1998, the Broncos set the NFL record for victories by going 46-10 over a three-year span. The 1998 Broncos won their first 13 games on their way to a 14-2 mark. Shanahan, taking his cue from West Coast offense guru Bill Walsh, was well-known for scripting the first 15 offensive plays of the game, and helped the '98 Broncos set an NFL record for first quarter points scored in a season.

Shanahan is known for a run-heavy variation of the West Coast offense he coached in San Francisco. He has often found unheralded running backs from later rounds of the annual NFL Draft and then turned them into league-leading rushers behind small-but-powerful offensive lines. Examples of this phenomenon are Terrell Davis, Mike Anderson, Olandis Gary and Reuben Droughns, all of whom have had at least one 1,000-yard season in a Denver uniform over the past 10 years.

Shanahan faced criticism for not delivering a playoff victory since Elway's retirement and Davis' career-ending injuries. The playoff drought ended on January 14, 2006 when the Broncos defeated the two-time defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs at Invesco Field at Mile High. Coincidentally, Shanahan has the best record for any active coach against Bill Belichick. Including the postseason win, Shanahan is 5-2 against Belichick's Patriots, the five wins coming in the last six meetings.

In 1999, with the assistance of writer Adam Schefter, Shanahan penned Think Like a Champion, a motivational book about leadership. It was published by Harper Collins.

i dont think i have to, he won ALL of his Superbowls after 1970. he coach 2 years before the timeline and in those 2 years he sucked as a HC going 1-13 in 1969 and 5-9 in 1970. i know Prof took him in the last draft but its like your giving him credit in the old school draft for what he did after 1970. its the same reason why i didnt take Don Shula in the other draft when i had the chance, yeah he was a great coach but he didnt start winning AFC Championships and SBs until after your cutoff date. if thats the case then Profs old school team should be considered weaker because he had the 6-22 HC version of Chuck Noll and not the 4x SuperBowl winning HC Chuck Noll that i have. coaches shouldnt have the deadline applied to them because some of them started in 1969 like Madden and Noll but didnt start being sucessful until after 1971. its like your giving credit to some coaches in the old school draft for what they accomplished after your cutoff date.



also i accidentaly drafted the wrong G in Marco Rivera and i wanted to know does anyone have a problem with me switching him out with my original pick, i was i a hurry and wasnt paying attention to what i was doing...

That's the problem though, because then you have to factor in the players as well. A lot of players we took in the old school draft did all of their work in the 70's. I had to cut it off somewhere, although i understand your point about Head coaches though. We'll adjust the rules next year, but for now i think we need to leave it the way it is, because changing the rules now would mean others had a chance at Noll too and would be pissed that they didn't get the chance at him.

Yeah, go ahead and switch your guard out and put down the guy you want. Sorry i haven't been around to do this stuff, i've been moving back to Oklahoma for the summer(woooh.)

right, you'll want to take a FB during the extra round though, because we'll all have a 3rd WR and a FB before it's all over, along with the nickel CB.
