Size and weight should not be a factor. If the old players had access to year round weight training and...cough....nutritional supplements, they would be as freakishly large as their contemporaries. Just my opinion.

I agree with you personally, but too many people here don't, and it messed things up last year during the voting.

Perhaps it is a way for us to educate some of these younger fans. Size, weight, and era should all be ignored. You should be willing to project the older players into today`s NFL, and vote accordingly. I love the concept and would have a blast competing, but I guess I am just too much of a dinosaur. Good luck with it though. It really is a great concept.

Personally, I don't care. (although I like the taking size and skill into account) but the problem is deciding how its going to be judged. I could've drafted like that last year, but I thought it was going to be like a actual football team playing each other. So I was pretty much screwed because I chose great, athletic, YOUNG players, who will eventualy accomplish great things, but not right now. So, if you want to go by accomplishments thats fine, but just say its like that before hand.

If everyone can agree to account for physical differences in judging, then we should do so now so this doesn't become the main debate when that rolls around. NYG Freak, I want you in this competition, the more old school we have then definitely the better.

Its just hard to say how old players would have done today. Its easy to say oh they would have been good if given this. But atleast with modern players you could say they would have been gods.
I still dont like people drafting 215 pound lineman for alltime teams. I cant get the image of Julius Peppers taking on one of them, when comparing teams.

yeah, i see both sides of the argument, but at the same time this draft is an awesome way to talk about all of the old legends(something we hardly ever do here).

if the players of old had the
supplements
technology
exposure
training regimens
etc
they would definitely be right up there with players of today no doubt and if you compare the hearts of players of a bygone era, then they would smash today's players by a ton

Try to imagine Ray Nitschke and Dick Butkus on HGH and steroids. If you factor in size and weight, you`re missing the entire point. The only thing you can take into account, is skill...period. Yesterday`s players, would`ve been bigger if they played in todays game. Anyone who thinks the modern player is superior, is being naive, and at the same time, anyone who thinks the old players were superior, is being just as naive. Great football players, are great football players, no matter the era. I am not necessarily and "old school" guy....just old. I know the older players were great, but I am also aware that great players exist today. As for Julius Peppers...I would love to see him try to tackle Jim Brown one on one. Damn, I went old school....sorry. I`m also sorry for making the size thing an issue. I just think you guys could be onto something really cool here.

it was a concept we did last year, and it was pretty awesome seeing guys like Night Train Lane and Deacon Jones get drafted. IMO, it would be great to try it again, but we definitely need to agree on this issue before hand so we don't have to argue about it during the critical voting time. I think it's good that you brought it up so we can address it now.
