Default favre says he's gonna play

Sources: Favre to play '06 season for Packers
ESPN.com news services

Brett Favre informed the Packers on Tuesday that he will definitely play the 2006 season in Green Bay, league and team sources have told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Favre shared his decision with general manager Ted Thompson and head coach Mike McCarthy in a telephone conversation on Tuesday morning, the sources said.

Neither Favre, Thompson nor McCarthy was available for immediate comment. Bus Cook, Favre's agent, did not return phone inquiries.

Favre has said previously that if he decides to play in 2006 it will be his final season in the NFL.

at least he decided BEFORE the draft so they can put to bed the rumors of taking a QB at #5

thomson already said that whatever brett chose has no bearing on their draft philosophy. So if they were planning on taking a QB, I don't think this will affect whether or not they have confidence in rodgers or not. I personally don't think that they would have taken a QB anyway, but wierder things have happened

I don't entirely buy into what the packers said about favre's decision not impacting their draft plans. IMO that was at least partly them trying to regain some power over the situation since it was pretty evident favre felt he was in total control and the team couldn't do a thing about it in his mind. that said, I also don't think they were ever really planning on taking a QB in the 1st. its still possible they go after one in the later portions of day one, but we'll see

Hrm. I called it. We may take the division now, provided we can get some OL. Not that taking THAT division is much to brag about though..
