I realize its a team sport. I was just comparing johnson to favre to ruffle your feathers, haha. btw, darren sharper didn't win the games himself either. the defense playing better as a whole, and the special teams, is why the vikings had a win streak last year. to be perfectly honest, I don't see either the vikings or the packers doing all that well with the QB's they have unless the defenses play stellar football. to get back on topic, though, I think that without any real playmakers on offense to help him out, favre will quickly learn that even coming back this year could turn out to be a mistake, much less staying on a year after that
o yeh i agree that he does not have many weapons to go to at all. And it might turn out to be a mistake, but Brett won't give in, and he was faced with the same weapons as last year.
PROS:
--Great team player.
--Tough as nails QB.
--Green Bay legacy player.
CONS:
--Fantasy Football poison (he was my starting QB and there were a couple of games where he scored in the negatives.)
--Tossed a LOT of interceptions.
--Injury prone. Real injury prone.
--GB: 4-12 in '05.
Assessment:
Should have retired last season, but it is a tough call. I don't think there is anyone on the current GB roster who can fill his shoes like he did (for good or ill).

Well, you're right. Right about the Packers and Vikings, and worse yet right about Favre. That's why I've been saying 9 -7 will take that division. I just hope that 9-7 is us...
I don't think any amount of good defense are going to help the Pacs or the Vikes this season... and I think the Pacs will fare better than the Vikes will (especially since the Vikes lost both Moss and Culpepper and the Pacs gained A.J. Hawk in the draft).
Both teams need real offensive firepower.

don't underestimate the value of a good defense. johnson and dilfer (as mentioned earlier in the thread) are perfect examples of QB's playing mediocre football winning championships on the wings of solid defensive play. hell, even look at what the bears did last year. that offense was HORRIBLE outside of thomas jones. the QB situation couldn't have been a bigger mess, but they got just enough production out of the QB's to make sure the defense wasn't stuck with a short field every time and bam - you've got a playoff team. that said, though, I agree with storm in that neither the vikes nor the packers have a chance of going better than 9-7. neither team will have a defense capable of keeping them in the game week in and week out
i think that farve should have retired last season because he isnt goin to have ne targets to go to on the offense side of the ball, and lets face it hes gettin to old and isnt as good as he used to b. this year the pac jus not goin to have a good team at all on either side of the ball.
lets just end it here ... Farve is doing nothing but HELPING his team by coming back.. Farve is the backbone to this team .. the frame ... without him everything else would just collapse... he is a leader on and off the field .. despite the numbers he put up this year how many games do you think they would of won without him.. Brett Farve still has one of, if the not the strongest arm in the NFL.. he still puts up a lot of yards but he needs a better offensive line to give him the time to throw to his recievers..(which really arent that bad) .. I would take Donald Driver and Robert Ferguson over plenty of 2 some recievers in the NFL... the packers will not have as bad of a season as they had last year and will put up a fight to win the NFC NORTH with the Bears..
sounds about right. But the backbome of this offense this year is GADO!!! The guys a stallion and I think he will be as good or better than last year. Give the guy an O Line and let him loose. He will be better than Green i think.

Yay!! Gado!!! I love that man. Better than Green, absolutely. Green is coming off a major injury that has prevented him from running anywhere this offseason. Gado put up 100-yd games behind an OL second only to Houston in general lousiness, and now that OL is vastly improved and bolstered with a blocking scheme designed to complement the running game. He'll tear it up. Gado and Davenport are the future of the Packer backfield.
As for Favre, this Chris guy is right. Imagine if we had our depleted offense last year with Rodgers or Nall under center. We would have been 1-15, and that would only be because we played the Saints. Favre did the right thing by coming back this year. I just hope he'll know to quit it after that.
