GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Brett Favre is back. But for how long? Despite comments earlier in the offseason that there was "no doubt" the upcoming season would be his last, Favre said Saturday that he wasn't so sure.
"I know I said that," Favre said Saturday, in his first public comments since telling the Green Bay Packers he would return for another year. "But I hope you guys will respect me. I'm going to play this year, give it my best and not talk about it. And I'm sure that it will come up from somewhere else at some point, but it's been a distraction not only for me but for I think the guys I played with in the past, and I'm not going to talk about it this year."
In a half-hour session with reporters, Favre reiterated several times that he never considered asking to be traded to another team in the offseason.
"I know there was a lot of talk about being traded or wanting to play for another team," Favre said. "That never, I've told you guys that over and over again that I didn't want to play for another team, and that's the truth. And never once did I mention (a) trade. This is where I wanted to be the whole time."
Favre said he came back intending to win, but if the Packers can't go to the Super Bowl, he hopes to at least have fun.
"I know there's the risk of being 4-12 again," Favre said. "As with any season, there's optimism. I'm well aware that we lost five games by just a few points (last year)."
I personally think that farve could be a starting QB into his 40s, Gannon did it and johnson wants to do it. Farves in better shape then either of them were but when you play that long you will get hurt.

Favre has always said that he wants to do what's best for the packers, but stunting the growth of the supposed future QB doesn't seem like that to me. He is turning into a selfish player rather than a team guy. I think he'll only comeback if he doesn't break marino's TD record.
i doubt he will break the TD record this year he has a worse offensive line, and he dosent have the wide recivers he used to.
I don't see how you can say our line was worse (Did you see any GB games last season?), but you're certainly right about recievers. It may be another big year for interceptions..
This is a disgrace!! He shouldn't even be playing this year. He's not anywhere near the QB that he used to be and is being selfish if he's just playing to break records IMO. He should at least have the decency give the Packers a reasonable timetable on how long he's planning on playing instead of constantly saying "i'm not sure, I don't know, we'll see how i feel."
