Brett Favre will not attend the Green Bay Packers' mandatory minicamp this weekend because of his daughter's upcoming graduation, he told a reporter in Mississippi on Monday.

"I did not say that, or anything about a possible trade," Favre told the paper.

Favre told Al Jones, a reporter from the Sun Herald, on Monday that he wouldn't be coming to camp this weekend. Favre's eldest daughter, Brittany, is graduating from high school on May 25. Favre was not expected to practice anyway because he is rehabilitating from ankle surgery.

"He's got a lot of different things going on, his daughter's graduation and stuff like that," Jones told the Journal Sentinel. "His being frustrated, and not going, are not related. (It was) because of Brittany's graduation and banquets and things like that. And the fact that he wouldn't be doing anything in minicamp. It has nothing to do with the frustration or the organization. It is not a protest move."

However, concerned over a report that Favre demanded a trade from Green Bay general manager Ted Thompson, Favre called the Green Bay public relations office Monday morning to make this statement:

I feel sorry for Brett Favre. The Packers refuse to get the players he needs in free agency to win the division. He has no ground game, they let productive, but injury prone Ahman Green go. They let Javon Walker go. If Favre had anything else to do once he retires he would quit. So all he has to look forward to is to struggle with another weak roster. What is the Packers thinking when the division is always up for grabs? I understand Favre's frustration, but if he was anyone else Aaron Rodgers would be starting. So Favre go out and have fun and quit throwing the ball up for grabs you drive your fans nuts and taint your Hall of Fame status every time you do it.

Yes I've said the last couple years he should just retire before he has another embarrassing season. As much as he loves the game he should just retire while still in good standing. Move on so the Packers can move on. But the Packers kind of remind me of Lovie. Too proud to tell Brett "it's time" they will keep him as long as he wants to stay.
