Green Bay Packers linebacker Nick Barnett was arrested early Sunday morning in Appleton on battery charges, according to the Appleton Police Department.
Barnett was involved in a physical altercation at the nightclub WET on College Avenue and was arrested at 2 a.m. He was placed in Outagamie County Jail.
He apparently made bail, because he was at the Brett Favre Celebrity Softball Game later Sunday in nearby Grand Chute. Barnett left before the game started, however, and was not available for comment.
The police department did not wish to release any further details of the arrest or the incident Sunday evening.
A Packers spokesman released this statement: "We are aware of the incident in Appleton involving Nick Barnett. The Packers organization is going to defer further comment until we have had a chance to speak with Nick and gather more facts."
The Packers conclude their organized team activity practices today in Green Bay.
last year it seemed like once a week one or more of the bengals were getting arrested, i think that it is more in the forefront now because of the whole goodell taking control thing
Yeah that is what I was thinking about, that this guy is making it more public. Probably trying to embrass them with the hopes they will not do it again.
All I know is that its bad media for the NFL. Have players are becoming aware that if they do the crime they will do the time. Plus the fact that they get embrassed doesn't help them out either.
the NBA is just as bad and they get paid inordinate amount of money in comparison to NFL salaries. LOL and they don't even drug test for weed because they know they would lose like 70% of their players, LMAO!!
