Default Pre-Season Game #3 (8/23) - Jaguars (1-1) @ Packers (2-0)

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1) @ Green Bay Packers (2-0)
Time: 7:00 P.M.
TV: FOX (Nationally)
When: Thursday, August 23

Internet: Play-by-Play Stats (NFL.com) Radio: Packers Radio Network Stations

GREEN BAY MAKES NATIONAL TELEVISION DEBUT
-Packers fans around the country will get their first look at the 2007 team as Green Bay hosts Jacksonville in a nationally televised game on FOX.

-Kenny Albert and Daryl Johnston call the action in the booth with Tony Siragusa and Chris Myers serving as sideline reporters.

STARTERS SHOULD SEE PLENTY OF ACTION
-Customary for Week 3 around the NFL, projected regular-season starters are expected to see their most action of the preseason.

-Brett Favre and the No. 1 offense rebounded nicely against Seattle after a slow start to the preseason. The group saw four series of action in both games, but was limited to just 12 plays in Pittsburgh after failing to record a first down. Favre led the offense to scores on three successive drives Saturday as the group had 22 plays from scrimmage.

-The defense looked strong again, limiting Seattle to just three points. A standout performance from safety Atari Bigby - two sacks and a forced fumble - means he may push former high school teammate Marquand Manuel for time at strong safety with the starting unit.

INJURY REPORT
-No position has been hit harder by injuries than the backfield, which took yet another hit Saturday night against Seattle.

-Running back Vernand Morency, who is expected to compete for the starting job, has been sidelined after injuring his knee on the first day of training camp. Morency has yet to see any action in the preseason.

-In his absence, Brandon Jackson, a second-round pick from Nebraska, has been seeing reps with the first team, while veteran Noah Herron has continued his role from last season as a third-down back. In addition to Herron and Jackson, rookie Corey White has been the only other running back to carry the football.

THE DOPE ON THIS WEEK'S OPPONENT:
Packers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars:
All-time regular season: 2-1-0
All-time preseason: 0-1-0
All-time postseason: 0-0
All-time, in Green Bay: 0-1-0
Streaks: The Packers won the first two meetings between the clubs.
Last meeting: Dec. 19, 2004, at Lambeau Field; Jaguars won, 28-25
Last meeting, preseason: Aug. 27, 2004, at Alltel Stadium; Jaguars won, 9-7

COACHES CAPSULES
Mike McCarthy: 8-8-0, .500; second NFL season
Jack Del Rio: 34-31-0, .523; fifth NFL season

If we can win this one, it shows we're a solid team and not just a preseason wonder like Oakland last year. I'm not betting on that win though.

Since we are a very young team, and still don't know who will be on the roster come week 1, it's important to see who can hack it and who can't. That's all. A win may not mean anything, but individual players showing whether they can play on a competitive level does. If they can do that, Detroit may not take the division so easily. I have my doubts though.

Impressive game by Rodgers so far.. Jackson gets his first Lambeau Leap.. 10-0 Packers @ the half.. James Jones continues to impress this preseason.. still would like to see more rushing from Brandon but he's got into the receiving game..

Donald Driver better be alright

What happened to Driver?

James Jones 6 catches for 80 yards in the the first half, damn.

Looks like Leftwich is stinking it up.

Driver made a catch.. had to be helped off the field.. got carried away on a cart.. speculation is that its just an ankle injury instead of knee.. well lets hope it aint broke.. he's getting tested right now..
