Sherman staying
This from NFL News:
Despite some speculation to the contrary, Packers head coach Mike Sherman will return to coach the team next season.
Green Bay might have had an interest in exploring the coaching market, but the question it has asked itself is the same that all the other teams debating coaching changes also will: Who will we hire to take our head coach's place?
Some head coaches feel there is a dearth of qualified head-coaching candidates. Some of the top names are Washington defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, Philadelphia offensive coordinator Brad Childress, and each of New York's defensive coordinators, Tim Lewis of the Giants and Donnie Henderson of the Jets.
But there is not a collection of candidates that has teams clamoring for them. This is one reason -- in addition to the pull that the Packers are hoping it will have on Brett Favre's decision regarding his future -- that Sherman is now assured of returning to Green Bay.
I hope we don't see a repeat of this year. If Favre and Walker return though, we should be fine.
