Packers release Diggs, Dutton
Packers release Diggs, Dutton
March 2, 2006
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The Green Bay Packers released linebacker Na'il Diggs and punter Ryan Dutton on Thursday.
The Packers drafted Diggs out of Ohio State in the fourth round of the 2000 NFL draft. He played in 84 games, including 80 as a starter, and recorded 541 tackles (390 solo).
Diggs struggled with injuries last season, playing in only nine games for Green Bay.

getting rid of Diggs could be a sign that they are drafting Hawk.

I wonder if the injuries were that bad, I always thought he was pretty good but I do agree with Mickey that they are/ have to be looking hard at Hawk now.

Diggs was pretty good. A shame to see him go, but I also think you're right about Hawk, which is what I've wanted to see. Either way. Thompson did an incredible job building a team for Seattle, I have faith he'll do the same thing for us. I'll trust his judgement for now.

if for some reason bush falls to GB, which IMO coud happen, even though they have signed green, do the packers take him?

if they could get bush then i say they do, but he will never drop that far. I really think they will end up with Hawk.

i think they are counting on hawk or williams, but if you look at the top 4 needs and what they have to spend. Bush could easily fall.

I don't think they need Williams. Don't get me wrong he is a great player, but they already have KGB and Kampmen. Sure Williams probably is better than them, but they don't have anyone at linebacker. So i think they will draft Hawk, even if Bush falls.

Here is my problem with that. Hawk is no doubt a great player, but you can easily get a really good LB in the second round this year as there are many. You could even get carpenter, lawson, or possibly ernie sims in the second. with that kind of talent available in the second, how could you pass on bush in the first?

the Packers need to draft defense. sure Bush would be amazing to have, but right now the team doesn't need anymore running backs they need defense and Hawk is the best defensive player in the draft. More than that he plays the position where the Packers are the weakest. They have to take Hawk.
