Rate Day One: Nelson, Brohm, Lee
WR Jordy Nelson
Scouting Report: Nelson is a well built receiver that uses his size and determination to come away with the ball. His speed is far below average for his position and, consequently, he is rarely able to get away from defenders in tight man-to-man coverage. His strengths are being able to fight through tackles and make plays in traffic. Nelson has a solid understanding of how to play his position, which helps make up for his lack of quickness. Overall, he is a mentally tough player who will do what is asked of him in order to win ball games.

QB Brian Brohm
Scouting Report: Brohm is most likely the closest of the '08 quarterback class to being NFL ready. He would have been a first round selection had he chosen to declare for the draft after his junior campaign. An optimal situation for Brohm would be a team that runs a traditional pro-style offense where his skill set would be optimized. He is incredibly accurate with the football (65.9% completions) and makes good decisions. Going through his progressions and making reads will be his most relied upon tool while trying to make the leap to the next level. Unfortunately, his mobility is minimal at best, and he will generally be confined to the pocket.

CB Patrick Lee
Scouting Report: Didn't get a chance to start at Auburn until his senior season, but capitalized on the opportunity. Intercepted four passes in 2007, forced one fumble and made 55 tackles (40 solo, 15 assists). Also averaged 25.8 yards on 11 kickoff returns as a senior. An excellent natural athlete with good speed and ability to change direction smoothly. Good size at 6-foot, 201 pounds, is an extremely physical player with the ability to create turnovers. Has good ball skills in coverage. His lack of starting experience may be his biggest weakness, and it could take him a while to adjust to NFL schemes. Has displayed some inconsistency. However, he has plenty of room for improvement and his potential will likely make him an early-round pick.

none of them will be impact players right away, taking a WR when you have 6 and a bunch of young ones doesn't make any sense to me, when there are more glaring needs, CB, Oline and although they did draft a CB, they could have gotten a much better one if they had stayed put. I thought it was a bit perplexing, I would have given it a C-, but since there wasn't that, I picked a D

I agree taking Nelson was not the best of picks, but while their receiving core is very young, it is not exactly talented. Jennings is the only one with a lot of upside. However, they should have taken a TE or CB at that slot. Maybe even pickup Rice from Rutgers. I do not know much about the CB we picked up, but we do need one, so lets hope Lee is not another Ahmad Carrol. I do like that we picked up Brohm, because I do not trust Rogers' durability all that much, and with Favre gone we need QB depth. Who knows, maybe he'll outshine Rogers. Overall I'll give day one a C. Lets hope we do better day two.

yeah, James Jones was FAR from a scrub last season. there were times where i would have rather had them than Patrick Crayton.
