Javon Walker: Wants Out of Green Bay
Javon Walker: Wants Out of Green BayRotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com
Friday, March 10, 2006
Update: Walker, who is returning from an ACL injury, has asked the Packers to allow him to seek a trade, ESPN.com reports.
Recommendation: General manager Ted Thompson reportedly denied Walker's request on Wednesday. "I just don't feel like this is the best place for me to be right now," Walker said. "I really have no interest in being in a Green Bay Packers uniform or playing for Green Bay again." Walker was involved in a contract squabble last season leading to threats of holding out of training camp. His relationship with the team remains strained, and this recent request to seek a trade won't go far in repairing the damage.

What happened to him saying he would put up record numbers this year and THEN ask for more money? Hell with him. We don't need a TO. I say we trade him for that one Houston WR and a 2nd round pick. Not as talented, but a better team attitude.
Also, why is it always WRs that seem to cause problems like this? (TO, Moss, Keyshawn, Moulds and now Walker) Is it perhaps some underlying sexual insecurity with having to carry the title "reciever"?

that's funny, but I hear where he is coming from. Favre pulled that crap last year getting him to come in and look what that got him a year on IR, I would want out too, if I am being objective

How is it Favre's fault, or the team's fault, that he got injured?? Favre may be considered a god to some fans, but he's not powerful enough to stop a lousy Detroit CB from putting a dirty hit on Walker when he's already out of bounds..

It's not Favre's fault that he was injured, but it was his fault that he used his "Power" ro persuade Walker to not hold out when he was making a pittance. TO was holding outfrom a million dollar contract. Javon was making pennies compared to that. Now he seems to be screwed unless he can waste another year of his career showing everyone that he deserves money.

I was shocked too and it wasn't Favre's fault he got hurt but that whole situation was just weird. You have a guy holding out for more money to avoid situations like that, then it happened and Favre IMO had to feel a bit bad. It is just strange to me and probably a good thing that he goes and starts fresh, I just hope he doesn't bash on the way out.

Walker as the same lousy agent that TO had. They could have argued for more money without holding out. Once Walker gets a chance to prove himself like he said he would next year, he should be one of the highest paid WRs in football. GB has never failed to shell out the money to keep good talent. If he's gonna be childish and not learn from watching TO destroy his career though, we don't want or need him.

I hear what you are saying storm, and yes Rosenfuchs is his agent, but his situation is different that TO's he is wayy more flexible than TO and wasn't even looking for that type of money. He was looking for more and deserved it going into last year. No one could have forseen the injury which is a shame because. If he does get paid it will have been two or more years later than he deserved it, if he ever gets it at all.

He actually fired Rosenhaus about two weeks after his injury. He's representing himself now I believe. About the same time he let that JO go, he gave a nice speech about coming back in 06 and showing the GB brass he was worth every penny. In the midst of all the TO BS, it was nice to see someone actually doing things the right way, but apparently it was short-lived and he decided not to make good on his word after all. Oh well, we have plenty of WR. He may be the best we have, but we can survive without him, especially if he's going to cause problems.
