Packers sign DE Kampman to multi-year extension

March 11, 2006

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Defensive end Aaron Kampman signed a contract extension with the Green Bay Packers on Saturday.

Terms of the multiyear deal were not announced.

Kampman, 6-foot-4 and 278 pounds, had 105 tackles and a career-high 6 1/2 sacks last season. Among defensive linemen, only Ryan Pickett of St. Louis had more tackles (115).

Kampman is the second potential unrestricted free agent the Packers signed to an extension this week. Ahman Green, the franchise's second all-time leading rusher, re-signed Monday.

great job by the Packers organization locking up Kampman. He is a great young player and should only get better.

Making a move to build the Defense, great move by the Packers. Kampman is a great talent and will have a sucessful time in GB.

They will. Releasing Diggs but keeping Kampman says to me that they are about 80% sure on drafting Hawk, a very good move adding to an already solid defense. Keeping Green may not be the best choice, but in an RBBC situation Green and Gado together would be a good threat. Next, either Favre comes back or we buy Brees. Who's gonna stop that?

And as far as questions being asked by fans, GB fans are the most loyal fans in the NFL. The Pack doesn't need to buy starpower or even win games to keep their fans. No risk there.

but don't you want to win games, or it worth going through another losing season just to have favre playing? Loyalty is one thing, but that is going to far IMO. I heard on cjonline that the ratio of green to gado would be about 70/30.
