Complete Texans coverage During quarterback Matt Schaub's introductory news conference at Reliant Stadium today, the Texans admitted for the first time that quarterback David Carr's tenure with the team will end soon.
When asked about Carr's status with the team, general manager Rick Smith disclosed that the Texans are trying to work a trade for him.
"Matt is our starting quarterback," Smith said. "Everybody here appreciates the contributions that David has made to this franchise and to this city. We are working with his representatives to find another place for him. He'll be excited about his opportunity and we all wish him the very best. "
If the Texans cannot trade Carr, they will release him. The salary cap hit will be only $2 million.
The Texans introduced Schaub at a news conference today at Reliant Stadium.
"I am excited for this opportunity to be a part of this franchise and to lead this football team," Schaub said today. "I had an opportunity to meet a number of the guys in the last couple of hours and I'm definitely looking forward to getting with them and working with Sage (Rosenfels) and Bradlee Van Pelt, the other quarterbacks, so we can learn from one another."
The team acquired Schaub on Wednesday.
