Officially out: Carr released by Texans | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle
excerpt:
After weeks of trying to get a draft choice for quarterback David Carr, the Texans released the five-year veteran, making him an unrestricted free agent who can sign with any team in the league.
The Texans also released running back Domanick Williams (formerly Davis), their former leading rusher who has been unable to play because of a knee injury.
The team traded a second-round draft choice in next month's draft and a second-round pick in the 2008 draft to Atlanta for quarterback Matt Schaub on Wednesday. The Texans also swapped first-round picks (from 8th to 10th) with the Falcons in this year's draft. The Texans announced Schaub as their starting quarterback during a news conference on Thursday.
