As soon as the Texans learned that defensive tackle Seth Payne would be out for the season because of a torn knee ligament suffered in Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys, coach Gary Kubiak huddled with general manager Rick Smith to map out plans to find a replacement.

Kubiak and Smith didn't have to search too long to find a tackle for the NFL's worst defense. They signed a player with whom they were familiar, Lional Dalton, a nine-year veteran who won a Super Bowl with Baltimore after the 2000 season and was recently waived by Kansas City.

Homeland Security officials doubted the credibility of a recent threat made on a Web site, claiming seven NFL football arenas — including Houston's Reliant Stadium — will be hit with a radiological dirty bomb on Sunday.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Abe Martinez, who oversees terrorism investigations in the Houston area, said, "Homeland Security's preliminary determination is this threat doesn't appear to be real."

David Givens is taking it day to day, but would love to make it back into the lineup for the Tennessee Titans in time to face the Houston Texans.

Givens broken his left thumb and also tore a ligament in the Titans’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys, and has since had a pin surgically placed in the thumb to help the healing process.

Givens will have the pin removed early next week and says that will green light him to return, perhaps in time to face his hometown team, whom he nearly signed with before taking a $24 million package from Tennessee.

“It’ll definitely be day-to-day, [but] I’m looking forward to playing this next game,” Givens said.

Although the Titans said originally the thumb was not broken, Givens revealed Wednesday he had a halftime X-ray that showed the break.

He selected the Titans, who offered more money and the chance to catch a lot of footballs.

For the past few weeks, Texans cornerback Dunta Robinson has been incessant in asking Demarcus Faggins how he was feeling.

On Wednesday, Robinson finally got the answer he wanted. Faggins participated in a full practice and is slated to play Sunday against Jacksonville for the first time since he broke his foot during training camp.

Defensive tackle Anthony Maddox, who was a fourth-round pick by Jacksonville in 2004, is going to start Sunday against his former team. Maddox, who played in seven games in his two seasons at Jacksonville, is replacing the injured Seth Payne.[u]
