Report: Vinatieri signs with Colts

Another big piece of the New England Patriots' dynasty is leaving the team.

Kicker Adam Vinatieri — who kicked two game-winning field goals in Patriots Super Bowl wins, as well as another game-winning kick in an epic divisional playoff game against the Raiders — has signed with the Colts, Boston-based sports-talk radio station WEEI is reporting.

The Patriots declined to protect their kicker, who had been named the team's franchise player twice, with the franchise player tag.

"It just didn't feel like the right thing to do," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. "We considered all our options and decided not to tag anybody."

Last week, linebacker Willie McGinest was signed to a three-year, $12 million contract by the Browns, with whom the two-time Pro Bowl selection will reunite with former Patriots defensive coordinator and current Browns head coach Romeo Crennel.

The Patriots also lost starting receiver David Givens, who signed with the Titans. Also uncertain is the future of receiver/defensive back Troy Brown.

Well damn...

How's that for a a big "fu** You" to the patriots.

Go out and sign with (arguably) the biggest rival.

you know what would be a funny ironic conclusion. If the pats signed vandy and then vandy kicks a game winning FG against the colts.

I would die laughing.

I was really hoping that the pats would have showed him some love...considering that 2 of those superbowls was a direct result of his foot.

Vin had his mind made up to test the market anyways...I wonder what the deal was.

In a twisted way, id be all for it. But Vinny is clutch and Vandy is a choking jack ***.

Vandy has had the luxury of kicking indoors for a long time, and we all saw what he could do when put in a clutch situation....not to mention the fact that he cried on national tv.

i'm not sure that wasn't a show and he has always said that he is from canada and the SB doesn't mean as much to him as it would to others. I think he missed that kick on purpose for the way he was treated by manning and others. So, if he got a shot to kick against his former club that he doesn't like than he would have the proper motivation.

but with anyone that would miss a kick on purpose, you have to be careful. and I don't think that bill would have that on his team.

they could always get flutie to drop kick the ball. LOL
