Colts sign 2 of their own to 1-year deals

he Indianapolis Colts came to terms with their two remaining restricted free agents Friday.

Linebacker Cato June signed a one-year, $1.573 million contract. Wide receiver Aaron Moorehead signed a one-year contract worth $721,600.
June earned his first Pro Bowl berth in 2005, just his second season as a starter. He finished with 109 tackles and led the Colts with five interceptions, returning two for touchdowns.
Moorehead appeared in two games last season, registering seven receptions for 75 yards. In three years with the Colts, he has appeared in 16 games with 15 receptions for 183 yards.
Although the Colts lost running back Edgerrin James (signed with Arizona), linebacker David Thornton (Tennessee), place-kicker Mike Vanderjagt (Dallas) and defensive tackle Larry Tripplett (Buffalo) to free agency, they retained several players.
Wide receiver Reggie Wayne and defensive end Raheem Brock, each eligible for unrestricted free agency, signed long-term contracts. Linebacker Gary Brackett, a restricted free agent, also signed a long-term deal.
Two more unrestricted free agents -- linebacker Rob Morris and running back James Mungro -- signed one-year contracts.
Along with June and Moorehead, the restricted free agents who signed their one-year contracts were defensive end Robert Mathis, safety Gerome Sapp and offensive tackle Makoa Freitas.
The PeyBack Foundation announced Friday that it awarded $312,050 in grants to 53 community agencies this month, the most it has given out at one time. The deadline for applications for 2007 grants is Feb. 1. The nonprofit corporation was founded by Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.
