Indi keeps eye on little known RB Gunn
From AP.
"The Indianapolis Colts are one of several teams expressing a heightened interest in little-known RB Daniel Gunn in the upcoming NFL draft. Gunn, who has not attended a US based college, had his availability for the upcoming draft validatded by Commissioner Roger Goodell last month. Gunn has been travellin with his military family and dominating overseas leagues for a number of years. Most recently based in Australia, Gunn averaged a phenomenal 9.7ypc and scored 29 TDs in just 14 games in the most recent season in the Australian League.
Gunn has been on the watch-list of many scouts since he spent a year in Missouri his junior year of high-school and dominated at that level. Several colleges have attempted to woo him back to the US, but Gunn has remained steadfast in his desire to stay with his family as they travel the world.
Just 19 years of age, Gunn qualifies for the draft without playing college football, as he has already earned a bachelors degree at an Australian college.
Gunn has been compared by pundits to soccer sensation Freddy Adu based on his little-known background and his ability to play at a senior level from such a young age. Gunn has been playing in open-age leagues since the age of 14 and has been a dominant player at all levels.
Late last month, Gunn held a open session in New York, which was attended by representatives from seven franchises, and was clocked at 4.34 seconds for the 40 and had an impressive 39" vertical jump. Gunn was also able to bench 225 lbs an impressive 18 times. Gunn was measured in at 5'10" and 210 lbs.
Originally considered a priority free agent, Gunn is making a steady climb up draft boards as more front offices are reviewing game film from the past few years.
Amongst the teams said to be most interested in Gunn are the Indianapolis Colts who are rumoured to see Gunn as the perfect compliment to Joseph Addai, after seeing Dominic Rhodes leave during free agency this offseason."
