I've yet to get defensive, though your post stinks of bruised ***** here.
Does every player on your team have to be the best at their position for them to make your team better? Does every player have to be top 20 for them to improve your team?
You shouldn't be so defensive "mang".
You are just trying to polarize my argument to make yours look more plausible. I’ve commented on his skill set in relation to what he is getting paid. It is all relative. It really is.
And I don’t hate Freeney. Just because I think he is one dimensional doesn’t mean that I don’t think he has value. He just is what he is. Deal with it and stop getting your feelings hurt just because someone thinks that this money could have been spent in a wiser fashion.

Wow- you read too deeply into a one sentence post, backpedal on your stance, insult me, I respond, and I'm the defensive *****? Sounds like someone needs to get laid.
You've posted on this thread more than any fan has, which isn't a problem except you hijacked it with bull**** more than any other fan on here of any team. Now your poor feelings are hurt because of how the thread's turned and your trying to backpedal just because a few guys called you on it? Damn, that's weak. If you're going to have an unpopular opinion, at least don't act like a little ***** about it.

excellent insight. what was said is true, just like it's true for most every other nfl player that plays in a dome.

He benefits more than most.

how do you quantify this? is there a unit that's a measure of 'how much one benefits from playing in a dome'?

Of course there's not a unit of measurement. With his quick first step (prolly the quickest in the league) how could he not benefit more than most? His whole game is based on speed/quickness so why wouldn't playing in a dome on turf benefit him more?
For example, look at the prime time game 2 years ago against the Ravens. At least twice he was around Ogden before JO had a chance because of his quicknes but I'd be willing to bet Ogden would have recovered against 95% of the other pass rushers in the league.
I don't have the breakdown of his sacks but I'd be willing to bet there is a big disparity between his totals at home and on the road. Actually I'd like to see them to satify my curiousity.

last yr 5 out of his 5.5 sacks were on turf
the year before 9 out of 11 on turf
prior year, 10/16 on turf.

I’ve been respectful of your opinion even in the face of your failure to return the favor. I'm not getting baited into going around in circles with you. Point fingers all you want. I had an opinion, you didn’t like it, and now you are throwing a temper tantrum. You are a predictable byproduct of the message board community. I’ve lost interest in this thread, and in you. Have a good day.

the guy wasn't going to sit out a year rather than play and get paid. if you honestly believe that you're retarded. he would have played.

Please get a clue as to how salaries and the cap work in the NFL.
Freeney will actually cost the Colts LESS for the next two years than he would've if we franchised him. His salary hits will begin to really increase in the 4th year of this contract, by which time, the Colts will re-negotiate the contract like they do every other.
Yes, Freeney got a large amount of guaranteed money mostly in the form of a salary bonus, but the contract is structured so that he won't begin costing an excessive amount until the last three years of the contract. Again, by that time, things will change.

For me its not that it was a stupid move cap-wise but that its just so much money. It amazing that a defensive end (even if he were the best of all time) is making that kind of money. I want to see what Peyton/Brady/Vick would sign for in this market.

Freeney won't see 1/3 of the $$$ in this contract.

Well, if you aren't going to ask your DE's to actually play a complete game of football, then why overpay them? Get any one dementional pass rusher in there on the cheap.

I think we may see more of Freeney vs. the run this year with the success we had in the Playoffs not sending our DE's upfield on every down.

In no particular order, off the top of my head, I would rate these guys ahead of Freeney. Where does that put him without much effort? At 16? If I wanted to I could probably find a few more.

LMAO @ Mathis ahead of Freeney.
Thanks for the laugh.
