Yeah, but be honest, Ugoh is a bit raw and while he might have success against some of the average DE's in the league, wait until the playoffs against Merriman or Adalius Thomas. Thats gonna be tough for Manning.

We'll see. Johnson was a 6th-round rookie last year playing in the Playoffs. He held up fine.
And Manning has one of the quickest releases in the NFL. He doesn't sit around back there.

Let me start off by saying I was very impressed by Charlie Johnson's two performances last year, especially against Philly, where he looked dominant. He seems to have the strength to hold up at the point of attack, while possessing the athleticism to reach the second level of defenders. Moreover, I loved the Ugoh pick this past year. The guy is huge, athletic and well suited to play LT at the NFL level. Also, Polian is very high on the team's tackle depth, referencing the potential of Federkyle as a player who could be a terrific backup/spot starter.
All that being said, Peyton Manning has never missed a game in his career, and that amazing stat is heavily attributed to the play of Glenn who has played in 151 of Manning's 157 total career games. Glenn isn't just another "guy", he's a pro bowl type, just behind the elite LT's like Jones, Pace and Ogden. In fact, Glenn's durability and consistency had long ago convinced me that he belongs in the elite LT category. He is a hugely strong player, very athletic in the run game. Despite his false starts, he has some of the quickest LT feet in the NFL, and is a great (repeat: Great) pass blocker.
For all the potential that Johnson and Ugoh have, and all the optimism being spewed by Colts fans here, I am hugely worried about the serious drop in quality at a position that his probably second most important to our offense should Glenn retire. Sure, the young players might play well, but it isn't realistic to expect them to play anywhere near Glenn's level any time soon. Players like Glenn don't grow on trees. Our running game will suffer, Peyton's happy feet will get worse, and worst of all, the probability of an injury to Manning has sizably grown.

Do you disagree, or does your optimism blind you from everything?

-- Tarik Glenn Won't File Retirement Papers Immediately --
Wed Jul 25, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com
The Indianapolis Star reports the Colts will place starting OLT Tarik Glenn on the reserve-retired list before training camp. Glenn, who announced his retirement yesterday, gave QB Peyton Manning great pass protection. The Colts seldom gave Glenn blocking help with a tight end or running back when he faced one of the league's top pass rushers. "Hey, 78 was out there every week come hell or high water and he was going to do his job to the best of his ability," GM Bill Polian said. "And that vast majority of the time, he won the battle every week. "That's the story of Tarik Glenn's career." Glenn met with Colts owner Jim Irsay for approximately three hours Monday night to discuss Glenn's plan to retire. The nature of the conversation was to make certain Glenn was doing the right thing, not to talk him into returning for the 2007 season. "I just wanted to ask him a lot of different questions and make sure he was doing this for the right reason and he was certain about it," Irsay said. "After we finished talking, I could tell he was." The Colts will receive a roster exemption, and Glenn will turn his back on his $4.5 million base salary, which the team will gain in relief under the salary cap, but apparently will not immediately file his retirement papers with the league office. That leaves the door ajar, however slightly, for a return at some point should the fire return to Glenn's belly. The retirement, Polian said, "is not irrevocable." [/b]

I'm not worried..........I think the team will be fine. Good luck to Tarik.
