NP... I coach in Ontario Canada. I have and do coach at all levels save for university levels... I've coached ages 8-10, 11-13, 14-16, JV, SV, and rep teams... I have my Canadian NCCP Levels 1,2, and 3 and I have my Pop Warner certs as well as USA football certs. (I'm wearing my USAFootball polo as we speak lol!)
Honnest feedback now:
High and tight! At all times, with both arms... He drops his hands which would/could/will lead to fumbles, and bad bumps on his off ball arm as well. There should NEVER be space around the ball... EVER!... The off hand is a weapon and you keep it up so you can shoot it straight out at someones head. and if he has to bull, or if traffic arrives the off arm is right there to cover that ball up.
Quicker feet in traffic areas. Has great long strides for open field running, but you don't want this in a crowd or you could break your knees.
Work his side to side movement... Takes his shoulders away from down field and this can result in him getting ear-holed.
Given his stride, I'm surprised he's not a WR... That fit would be more natural. But given his size advantage coach wanted a stud back.
Play him up Dad... Biggest kid on the field.
All he's doing is learning bad habits at that level. It's not the coach's fault though, it's just that your kid can get away with stuff that he can't/couldn't if he were up against kids his own size on a regular basis.
Keep him lovin' the game though... Good lookin' kid.
