Vito Stellino of the Florida Times Union reports the Miami Dolphins’ new naming-rights deal is expected to have little impact on the Jaguars’ quest for a similar deal, according to senior vice president Bill Prescott.
“There’s not a lot of activity going on right now,” Prescott said. “Nothing is on the front burner.”
Prescott said the fact the Jaguars blacked out all but one game on local television in 2009 probably isn’t a major factor because they still appear on TV in the visiting team’s market and sometimes get national exposure.
“Most of the companies are looking for a national platform,” he said.
Prescott said it’s too early in the year to tell whether the Jaguars have a chance to land a sponsor this year. If not, it will be known as Jacksonville Municipal Stadium for the third consecutive season.
