Jimmy is the one that got away from all us 'Boys and Eagles fans. Smith and Irvin would have been a great tandem. Or Smith and Fryer to aliviate any bias

How is that for a second round the COwboys picked Jimmy Smith one spot before they pick Darren Woodson. I always wonder what would have happened if we could have fored Jerry and kept Jimmy.

The sad thing when he was with us was he was actually having a great pre-season as a WR and returned a punt or two...I was surprised they even cut him.

after i found out that the smith was retiring my first thought was that is goin to suck they r losin their number wide out. i think this will cause the jags offense to mayb struggle a lil bit during the season but we will jus have to wait and c.

freddie could never do much after he left philly, I think he only played in half the games in his first year in miami and then even less the next year, then he was done. It was a sad way that such a promising career ended. Calvin Williams was my man and after 95, I think he got hurt in 96, went to baltimore and disappeared.

I heard this question raised on the radio today. Is Jimmy Smith a Hall of Famer. I am going to say no. He only has 67 touchdowns and that is i believe 37th all time. He never mosted more than 8 touchdowns in a season. And if you look at his contemporaries, people like Randy Moss who are already has more TD's and nearly as many recieving yards. Smith is playing in time where WR's are a strong position. If you look at the NFL today you have plenty of future HOFers. Moss, Owens, Harrison, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, Rod Smith. And Tim Brown, Jerry Rice, and Chris Carter are all headed to the hall of fame. I think he should be considered a canidate, but should not be in the Hall of Fame IMO.

Jimmy retiring...I can't tell you how many times I passed up on this guy in my fantasy football draft and ended up kicking myself in the A$$ during the season. He's a Great player and he will be missed not just by the Jags but also by anyone who's a fan of the game.

I say he is in, right now he is 7th all time in receptions and 11th all time in yards, granted he is 31st in TD's but he has been a model of consistency in the NFL for over a decade. He has my vote. The only people with more rec are Rice, Carter, Brown, Reed, & Harrison. This year Rod smith, Isaac Bruce, Keenan McCardell could pass him, but he would still be in the top ten.
As far as recieving yards, he is only passed by Rice, Brown, Lofton, Carter, Ellard, Reed, Largent, Fryer, Monk and Harrison. Bruce only needs 9 yards to pass him. Smith, Owens and moss will need at least 2 seasons to pass him.
Owens and moss are on thier way but in no way are shoe ins at this point
Owens is 20th in yards and 22nd in receptions. Moss is 24th in yards and 33 in receptions. If both of those guys would happen to have thier career's cut short, they wouldn't make it.
