Default Who Steps Up?

So with Jimmy Smith now retired, who steps up as the Jaguars #1 option this year? We have alot of young, potentially good guys. But here is a breakdown of them from last season.

Ernest Wilford - No: 41 Yds: 681 TD: 7

Reggie Williams - No: 35 Yds: 445 TD: 0

Matt Jones - No: 36 Yds: 432 TD: 5

Wilford showed the most potential from last year. But for some reason I think Matt Jones will be the #1 guy next year. Hopefully Reggie will also break his bust tag but I see him being the #3 guy.

So with no proven #1 wide receiver and an injured QB coming back, where does this leave Jacksonville's offense? They were not exactly a powerhouse last year.

Well, as of now it's on the shoulders of Fred Taylor. But you never know, our WR's could break out this year. All we really need is 1 to break out and the rest just be servicable and we'll be ok. As for Leftwich, he's always improving and I expect the same this year. If he gets hurt though, Garrad is a great second option.

They will have to find a number 1 guy, it should be Wilford early, but Jones has much more potential.

Taylor will be injured by week 5, so Jones, Toefield, and Drew(I think that's the one Jax drafted) will be carrying the load. Luckily they have a lot of guys with talent.

Normally I'd agree with you and say Fred would be injured by week 3. But according to alot of sources he's in the best shape he's ever been in. So we shall see.

Its too bad for you guys JS retired when he did. If he would have retired at the begining of the offseason you guys could have made a run at, Bruce, Moulds, or Keyshawn, and would be in much better shape. But all in all iI think you guys will be alright. I like what Matt Jones did last year, he may be too raw to be a #1 now, but I think he will be able to get 50-60 catches this year

i agree with above, jones has more potential, but wilford has shown more ability. Williams is close to being a bust.

Williams is a straight out bust. He had 0 TDs last year from a guy who was a first rounder.

this is his third year and that is the magical WR year, if he still sucks this year then it would be time to call him a bust.

I am not buying Reggie Williams. He has one TD in 2 years. He hasnt even be able to anything decent where he could have helped himself due to the fact that Jacsksonville has poor WR's, he could have at least made a name for himself. He didnt take advantage of that. He got to start nearly his whole rookie season and that didnt translate into his second year, where he averaged about 2 receptions a game.
