Default Taylor's status questionable

Ultimate Jaguars Newsroom: Taylor's status questionable

Jaguars running back Fred Taylor is listed as questionable on the team's latest injury report, and he might not play Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Taylor, who needs 280 rushing yards to reach 10,000 for his NFL career, strained his groin muscle sometime between Sunday's victory at Kansas City and Wednesday's practice. Taylor said he initially didn't feel the injury when it occurred.

Taylor practiced on a limited basis Thursday and Friday.

"I know I could go if I wanted," Taylor said. "But we don't have any more off weeks. So we've talked about needing to let it heal up as opposed to taking a chance. I'll get out there, stretch and see how it feels.

"At practice today, I was able to explode on it. I think they're gonna leave it up to me, but we'll see."

Taylor has rushed for a team-high 207 yards on 55 carries this season.

Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said Taylor's availability is "likely [to] be a game-time decision."

If Taylor can't go, Maurice Drew will start.

"We will expect others to step up and produce," Del Rio said.
