Default Jags sign fullback Jones to deal

Jags sign fullback to deal
Jones receives a record contract at his position, according to his agent.
By MICHAEL C. WRIGHT, The Times-Union

Perhaps it's a good thing that Jaguars fullback Greg Jones underwent LASIK eye surgery Wednesday.

He'll likely need the improved vision to count all the extra zeros on his new contract.

Exercising the void option of his contract to become a free agent in March, Jones now isn't going anywhere after signing a five-year contract Wednesday. Agent Drew Rosenhaus said the contract is the richest in NFL history for a fullback.

"My family and I talked about [staying in Jacksonville]," Jones said. "I always wanted to stay here. It's close to home [Beaufort, S.C.], and it's close to Tallahassee."

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed. But Jones' deal is similar to the one signed last March by Atlanta Falcons fullback Ovie Mughelli - only a little bigger.

The deal reportedly is worth more than $17 million over five years.

"Clearly, the club stepped up and rewarded him," Rosenhaus said. "I credit Jacksonville for being aggressive."

We'll find out soon. Watch for the article I'm curious.
Didn't the Jags knock the Steelers out of the playoffs?
To me they're the sleeper cause you just don't hear too much about them but they just seem to keep winning.
