Grading the Jaguars' choices
Quote:
Times-Union columnist Gene Frenette grades each of the Jaguars' draft choices from this weekend, based on the value and need:
Eugene Monroe OT, Virginia, First round (8th OVERALL) A- The Jaguars desperately needed big bodies, and Monroe represented the best value at the No. 8 spot.
Eben Britton OT, Arizona, Second round (39TH OVERALL) B+ Taking another tackle might look peculiar, but Britton had a first-round grade with a lot of scouts.
Terrance Knighton DT, Temple, Third round (72ND OVERALL) C+ If Knighton can elevate veteran DT John Henderson's game, this defense will be dramatically better.
Derek Cox CB, William & Mary, Third round (73RD OVERALL) C- Gave up a 2010 second-round choice to land a cornerback who didn't even get invited to the NFL combine.
Mike Thomas WR, Arizona, Fourth round (107TH OVERALL) B At 5 feet 8 with 4.3-second speed in the 40-yard dash, Thomas could be a good fit as the slot receiver and punt returner.
