KC signs former Denver back

Chiefs sign RB Griffin to one-year contract

March 17, 2006
KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) - Quentin Griffin is moving from one AFC West team to another.

The Kansas City Chiefs signed the reserve running back to a one-year contract on Friday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Griffin spent his first three years with the Denver Broncos. He began the 2004 season as Denver's starter and rushed for 311 yards and three touchdowns in five games. But he was then hobbled by an ankle injury and ended up missing five games.

Last season, the Broncos cut Griffin in September after he fell behind Mike Anderson, Tatum Bell and Ron Dayne on the depth chart, but re-signed him later in the month.

Griffin has appeared in 16 regular-season games and compiled 656 yards and two touchdowns on 179 carries. His best game came in the 2004 season opener when he ran for 156 yards against Kansas City.

Now the Chiefs will likely use him as a backup to Larry Johnson if Priest Holmes decides to retire.

Kansas City also re-signed long snapper/tight end Kendall Gammon to a one-year contract on Friday.

ask me why we sign players that were cut by one team twice. One that fumbles and one that cannot stay in the league? Why we cannot jump on free agency with some caliber DEFENSIVE players and shore up what we are missing? Why we will sign players that will make us look at each other and wonder why? Why in the draft we will sya hey there is a player in 3A we can sign, that junior college player from south bum f**ed egypt that has 1 catch every two tosses. What Im getting to we draft terrible, I can think of only a handful of players that we drafted that worked out. Remember Sylvester? A bust, Snoop A bust, think of how many players we drafted in the first round that are still o the team playing first string. Shields, Gonzalez come to my head and everyone else is ahh hurt or can not make it through training camp. Why ccarl are you doing this to us. Get busy on the free agency, or we will be picking 6th over all in 2007. Guess Herman is your ***** now since Vermeil wouldn't.

WOW... A KC fan with attitude...

Well the reason we sign guys like Griffian is because we don't have the money to go after anyone good. I blame that on the piss poor job Peterson has done the last dew years in FA and the draft. (Barber, Warfield, Siavvi, ect.) We pay all of those guys big money to suck *** and then twe have cap problems. But my plan for the Chiefs is to trade all of their picks except for the fourth round for more fourth rounders. That is the one round that KC doesn't seem to screw up in.

George: I slept with your wife!
