Keyshawn Johnson: Wants to Play in Kansas City
Keyshawn Johnson: Wants to Play in Kansas City
RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com
Wednesday, March 22, 2006
Update: Johnson called Kansas City GM Carl Peterson last week and told him, "I'd really like to be a Chief," the KC Star reports.
Recommendation: Peterson said the Chiefs are interested in Johnson, but that the team needs to address some defensive needs before signing a big name receiver. While Johnson could be a nice addition to the KC offense, his price tag may be too high for a team with salary cap issues. Any potential deal between the two sides likely is a couple weeks away.

Wow the Chiefs would be a good place for him. They have a great team and he would fit in well there.

They really need to fix their defense before they'll be a true contender.. Sure, Keyshawn is a standout talent wo would greatly benefit ANY team, but they have to ask themselves if he's really worth the money they need to be spending on other things. Just my 2cents.

Keyshawn is a career underacheiver with a selfish mentality and a bad attitude. He does bring talent which is why he gets jobs, but you never truly get 100% from that guy and he constantly needs hand holding. I wouldn't want that guy.

Chiefs: Keyshawn called Peterson
The News
Former Cowboys wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson placed a phone call to Chiefs team president Carl Peterson and expressed his desire to play in Kansas City. According to the Kansas City Star, Peterson told Johnson to hold off while the Chiefs address their defense.
Our View
The Chiefs have some needs to address to get back in the playoff picture, but adding another veteran receiver probably isn't their top priority, especially at the price Keyshawn is demanding. Peterson will likely focus on the defensive side of the ball to appease new coach Herm Edwards and will rely on improving young receivers like Samie Parker opposite Eddie Kennison.
