Edwards gets tough with team
Today while listening 810 WHB sports talk radio Kevin Kietzman read part of a report about Herm getting tough.
He has taken a pool table out of the clubhouse because it covered a Chiefs Logo on the floor. He also had all TV's removed from the locker room and cell phones are banned.
Insteresting move, I'm insterested to see how the players respond after Vermiel basically ran a country club.

George: I slept with your wife!

I think Coach Edwards is just making a first impression basically stating that he's serious and that he's the boss. He'll relax eventually, but not as much as Coach Vermiel. This will be good for them.

I dunno. He's Herm Edwards after all. He ain't exactly known for his laid back style . IMO, it's a bad move to come in there and start slappin people around and layin down the iron fist. But then again, there is a reason guys like Vermiel have rings, and Herm doesn't.

I guess that's why guys like Gruden have rings and Dungy doesn't too right?

Different situation. Gruden came in to Tony's team, and slowly over a few seasons changed the culture. He brought in a lot of his own personnel under his philosophy. He didn't just come into town and start barkin orders. Herm has introduced a dramatically different climate shift in the locker room which will most likely have a negative effect on morale.
Herm Edwards isn't on the same level as Dungy, Gruden or Vermiel. He's a second tier coach at best.

these guys were a little soft and herm has his style, if he wasn't true to who he is, then there is no sense in him even being there. I am sure that when the cheifs traded a 4 th rounder they knew who they were getting and felt that it was time for a change in attitude. The chiefs have had some teams that were supposed to make noise and did pretty much nothing. I think he is doing the right thing and should be supported, because vermiel's country club certainly didn't help them do anything in the playoffs.

herm is a good coach that will do fine in KC, he just needs some youth at the QB and other positions.
