Law May Have To Lower Price
Staff Report May 19, 2006
Reports out of New England suggest cornerback Ty Law may have to lower his asking price before finding a job.
The Boston Herald reports Law's $10 million signing bonus has, thus far, scared off the Chiefs, believed to be the top suitor for the free agent cornerback. The newspaper reports the Chiefs' interest may depend on this weekend's minicap.
The Patriots and Titans have met with Law but both teams appear willing to wait to see if Law's price tag decreases.
Both teams have given Law a physical, while the Chiefs have not. Chiefs Head Coach Herm Edwards continues to try to quell the rumors of Law's impending signing.
''That's the fish story,'' Edwards said. ''It was a guppy in Boston and now it's the white whale in Kansas City. By the time it gets to California, it will be Jaws. He's not even scheduled to come here [for a visit], based on what I know.''
Law stands as the top free agent cornerback available in the market.
