KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Kansas City Chiefs released 10-year veteran safety Jerome Woods on Thursday.

A Pro Bowl selection in 2004 after recovering from a severe leg injury, Woods played little last season and his future with the Chiefs seemed shaky after two safeties were taken in last month's draft. His 720 career tackles rank seventh in team history.

Taken as the 28th overall choice in 1996, Woods played in 128 games. He had 15 interceptions, returning two for touchdowns. He had a career-best four interceptions in 1997, when the Chiefs led the NFL in scoring defense with 14.5 points a game.

Kansas City's starting safeties are Sammy Knight and Greg Wesley. The Chiefs drafted Bernard Pollard and Jarrod Page.

i want to see the Chiefs get Ty Law.. that just helps me and my prediction for them to win the AFC West this year..

I disagree Chris, they are too weak of a team to win their division. Even though the Chargers lost their star QB they still got Rivers and Feely. They still have LT and Antonio. Overall I think they will win their division.

Listen pal, first off Feely wont even start. Second off, Feely is not a good QB. Im not doubting the fact that the Chargers will win the division, but its not because of Feely.

I hated to see Woods get cut, but I guess it was time. As for Ty Law I'm not so sure, he wants a $10 million signing bonus and I would be surprised if the Chiefs would give him that.
