Chiefs’ Allen will miss first four games of season
Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen will be suspended for the first four games of the 2007 season for a violation of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.
Allen received word of the suspension from the league office today.
“I’m sorry my actions of last year will affect my teammates, coaches and fans,” Allen said. “I have definitely learned from my mistakes and am glad to finally put this entire thing behind me once and for all. I will be with the Chiefs this year and will do everything I can to help bring a championship back to the great fans of KC.”
Allen, 25, has been charged twice in the last year with driving under the influence of alcohol in the Kansas City area. He entered a diversion program in connection with the first charge and recently pleaded no contest to the second.
