10 questions for the Chiefs
The U.S. is out of the World Cup, and the Royals are an afterthought again before the All-Star break. What’s a poor sports schlub in Kansas City to do but count the days until training camp? It’s 33, by the way. And it should be an intriguing fall, with a new coach and a new focus … on defense.
Through two minicamps and a month of offseason workouts, Herm Edwards proved that he’s hands-on, he’s not afraid to root for the defense, and that he digs grass stains and soaked uniforms, not high-maintenance finesse.

as with any new coach on a team, there will be a growing or adjustment period, it will be how the chiefs play through this that will determine if they can contend this year, there will start to be a sense of urgency as their QB, best WR and oline are starting to get up there and I know herm has to see the writing on the wall, he could be in a rebuilding process which could lead to him losing LJ in a couple of years. My point is the window is closing for the chiefs.

No way... Herm Edwards is a great coach who already has expeirence... He is just going to take over and make this team even better... Herm Edwards was a great coach in New York with the Jets and I assume he will be even a better coach now that he has all the talent he needs... Kanas City is going to win the AFC West this year... Larry Johnson will be there for an entire season so right there the ground game is going to improve... Trent Green has always been solid and will not dissapoint this year... The offensive line is probably the best in the NFL... Plus Herm Edwards is a great defensive coach so he might actually make this defense good for once... Those are all the Indgrediats for a great team...

seriously, when any coach changes team, both that team and coach go through an adjustment period. rarely does a team and coach gel immediately and start playing well from the gate. It happens, I assume, but more often there is a storm that has to be weathered. These people are humans and new people take time to learn peoples habits and nuances, there is new language for the system that is being run. it is natural to have this adjustment period.

I see what your saying... But they got all Training Camp and Pre-Season to deal with all that... By the time the season starts I think they will be just fine...

pre season and training camp are fine and do help, but the games that matter are a whole different ball game and no one knows what is going to happen until the games are played. I think because we see these guys on tv and only a small percentage make the nfl, people forget that they are men like you or I and they face many of the trials and tribulations that we face behind the scenes of thier glamorous and very public lifestyle

The thing they do have riding for them is that when Herm Edwards left New York, Mike Himerdinger (NYJ offensive coordinator) left to come to KC has well. So they have been together for a whole year, and now have a better offense to work with.

sorry brother but heimerdinger is Asst HC in Denver. Mike Solari was promoted to OC after being the teams Oline coach for the last nine years.
