i agree with u ricky has to stay commitied to football in order to get back to where he was when he retired plus it will be good for him to stay in shape for the 2007 season

this guy is a bum.. he needs to quit football altogether.. hes had way to many chances to clear up and he still uses drugs.. hes definitly not a team player and shouldnt even be allowed back to the NFL..

not true he has been doin better his last time he tested positive for drugs it was not weed i think he is improvin....chris

now it looks as though he will be going to toronto, he has all kinds of debts including 3 kids with 3 different women, and his current kid with his current pregnant girlfriend.

he might be a bum, but a bum with talent, and there are plenty of those. nate newton comes to mind, irvin's another, jones in washington. as long as you can play, you will play somewhere and that is just the nature of the beast

Suspended Dolphins running back Ricky Williams may be getting some northern exposure this season.

The Dolphins appeared close to giving Williams permission to speak with the Toronto Argonauts about playing this season in the Canadian Football League on Thursday. The Dolphins initially didn't want to let Williams play there, but have backed off after agent Leigh Steinberg pointed out the financial burden facing Williams.

Argonauts assistant general manager Greg Mohns has been discussing the situation with Steinberg since Williams was suspended by the NFL for a minimum of one season last month.

''The situation is progressing along and something may get done here pretty soon,'' Mohns said Thursday. Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said the team declined to comment.

Beyond that, a source was even stronger about the point: 'Unless it blows up, the Dolphins are not going to stand in [Williams'] way of playing.''

Last Friday, coach Nick Saban indicated he wasn't particularly enamored of the idea of Williams' risking injury in Canada. However, Saban never completely shut the door on the idea.

Once Toronto has gained formal permission, Williams and Steinberg are expected to fly there to discuss a contract. Argonauts general manager Adam Rita indicated earlier this week that Williams could earn approximately $300,00 Canadian in base pay and incentives.

A deal could be done fairly quickly. The Argonauts open training camp May 21 and open the regular season June 16
