Vick may not last long with Dolphins

MIAMI - Quarterback Marcus Vick made his debut with the Dolphins on Friday, but coach Nick Saban said the relationship might not last long.
"It's a date," Saban said after a series of questions about Vick left him borderline apoplectic. "We're not getting married."
In fact, it's doubtful that more than a handful of the 62 players who participated in the first day of the team's rookie minicamp will have a long-term relationship with the Dolphins.
The group included the team's six draft picks, six players who finished last season on Miami's practice squad and nine undrafted free agents signed this week.
The 41 other players were, like Vick, here for what is essentially a three-day tryout. Under league rules, those players can be here for only this weekend. If the Dolphins bring them back, they will have to sign them.
Vick is the highest-profile player of the lot, which also included former St. Louis Rams offensive lineman-turned-tight end Kyle Turley and former New York Giants linebacker Barrett Green. The 6-5 Turley, who looked downright graceful and had perhaps the most impressive day of anyone, has trimmed to 260 pounds after being well over 300 for most of his career.
Still, the focus of the day was Vick, the former Virginia Tech quarterback who was kicked off the team in January for repeated violations of school policy and the law. Vick declared early for the draft, but went undrafted and unsigned.
The 6-foot, 207-pound Vick, who looked decidedly small in the pocket, displayed a slightly sidearm release that led to some inaccurate throws when he went downfield. The Dolphins also lined him up at wide receiver for five plays, and he caught one pass.
However, reading much into that appeared to be a waste of time from Saban's tone. After the morning practice, four of the first six questions Saban received were about Vick before he ultimately lost patience with the topic.
