Default DT Keith Traylor facing DUI Charge

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...v=ap&type=lgns

PRYOR, Okla. (AP) -- Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Keith Traylor is free on bond after being charged with driving under the influence and illegal possession of a prescription drug, according to court documents.

Traylor was arrested on misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal possession of the prescription antidepressant Xanax, said Rebecca Young, a spokeswoman for Mayes County District Attorney Gene Haynes.

The 337-pound Traylor was also charged with felony injury to a public building for tearing a smoke detector off a wall while he was in jail after his arrest Saturday, Young said.

He was charged Monday and released on $5,000 bond, records show.

Traylor is due back in court July 20th, Young said.

The 36-year-old has spent 15 years in the NFL. Last season was his first with Miami. He's also played with Denver, Kansas City, Chicago and New England, winning two Super Bowls with the Broncos and one with the Patriots.

Pryor - Authorities in Mayes County have arrested Miami Dolphin defensive lineman and Broken Arrow resident Byron Keith Traylor on drug and alcohol charges.

Traylor was arrested Saturday night in Pryor.

Charges were filed against Traylor Monday. They include injuring a public building, driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

He has since bonded out of jail.

Angry

The NFL should throw the book at him and terminate his position (aka... fire his a**). Any regular individual who got busted with DUI and drug possession would most likely lose their job. They would certainly be urine tested.

While I have problems with the way the US govt conducts the "war on drugs" (especially at the expense of the civil liberties of US citizens), at the salary the average NFL player earns, they should be expected to "follow the rules" just like everyone else.

Even more so. NFL players (like NBA, NHL, MLB, etc...) are public figures. They set should set a positive example for the kids that watch the game. When a basketball/hockey star brawls or a baseball player uses steroids (for example), it cheapens the game, disrespects the spectator, breaks the rules and sets a bad example for children.

Byron Keith Traylor should be punished and punished hard. Again, at the salaries they make, more should be expected of them.

more should be expected, but it isn't. In fact you gotta wonder how many times a player is given leniancy and gets away with crap like this. What it is about is players feel like they are above the law, in this case it seems like stupidity though. I mean there are millionaires who can't write a friggin paragraph or read a novel, it makes me sick sometimes.

Yeah, do we still have Kevin Carter? Because Traylor is good but he isnt as much of an integral part of the defense if Carters around. Plus we need to weed out guys like this in miami. People make a lot of jokes about Dolphins players being Felons and whatnot and I am sick of it, your right mad viking, fire his you know what.
