Ginn is returning kicks
Dolphins get ready for opener - 09/03/2007 - MiamiHerald.com
On the first day of practice since the Dolphins made its final cut, trimming 31 players since last week at this time, it was quite clear that the Dolphins are well into regular-season practice mode.
There were no absentees as the team began preparations for Sunday's game against Washington. The roster was much shorter, and the practice field was much more intimate.
Ted Ginn Jr. was back to returning kickoffs, with running back Jesse Chatman serving as his counterpart on special teams. Running back Ronnie Brown did not participate in any kick return drills.

You had to figure that was going to happen. IMO, he is a better kick returner than Hester. It is worth the injury risk for the Dolphins.

He isn't close to Hester, Ginn is a straight line runner, with little elusiveness, and even less tackle breaking ability. Also Unlike Hester, he won't have the best kick return protection unit in the league around him either.

^essentially the reason for Hesters success
everyone acts like Hester is the greatest kick returner ever, he still isnt better then Dante Hall of 3-4 years ago
Devin Hester is a track star, Dante Hall was amazing I remember watching him dance around waiting for blocks to develop and he could cut on a dime
Ginn Jr was a good returner/receiver combo but very undersized.... hes like 6'1/180, not good for much but spreading the field on the deep ball IMO

It's gonna be interesting to see if he can pack another 10-15 LBs on that frame without losing any speed.
My thoughts on Ginn, and I was a huge support of brining him to Dallas, is thathe will never be a true #1, but as a #2 because of his deep ability, he he will command the attention of a #1. I think a good OC could craft an excelent passing game around that. He could take alot of coverage of off a much better WR, or he could make a less capable WR look better.

Hester had numbers that disagree.

take a look at highlight reels of both and watch Dante Hall create while Hester had the blocks opened for him, the Bears have the best or 2nd best (only to the Bills) Special Teams in the league.....
and Hester only posted a kick return average of just over 2 yards of Dante Halls CAREER average, you compare Dante Halls seasons 3-4 years ago and they are just over half a yard more on the return
Hester will start to get kicked away from like Hall was and fall off the map

It doesnt matter how much they dance, its all about how many yards they get. Hester was a rookie and still did better than Hall ever did on kickoffs.
