Jay Feely: I don't want Ricky Williams on team
Jay Feely: I don't want Ricky Williams on team -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com
Quote:
Coach Cam Cameron won't say whether he wants suspended running back Ricky Williams to rejoin the Dolphins, but one of his players isn't pulling any punches.
Dolphins kicker Jay Feely said he wouldn't want Williams on his team.
"No, I want a locker room full of guys who aren't going to quit on us or fold when it's tough and take the easy way out,'' Feely said.
Williams, 30, who was suspended for the 2006 season after failing his third drug test, was slated to return this season. However, it was revealed in May that he failed a fourth drug test, pushing back the date for his possible reinstatement into the NFL to after Oct. 1. His attorney, David Cornwell, recently said that Williams is eager to return to the NFL.
When Feely was told that Williams quit the Dolphins prior to the 2004 season because he knew a suspension was looming, Feely had little sympathy.
"You quit with your actions just as well as you quit with your decisions,'' Feely said. "You know you're getting tested and you decide to smoke a joint. That's quitting on your teammates just as much as walking away from the game.''
Williams, who played for the Dolphins from 2002-03 and 2005, was the rushing champion in 2002, but has played only 12 NFL games since 2003.
"I want a guy I could trust,'' Feely said. "I'd rather have a marginally talented player who gives me everything he's got every day at practice and in the games, than someone with better talent who gives their best effort just on some days.''
While Cameron has said he won't discuss Willams' situation until he is officially reinstated, Feely said Williams is never brought up around the locker room.
"Not at all. I've never heard a word about him ever since he failed that test,'' Feely said. "But if Cam and [GM Randy Mueller] decide to bring him back, I'd embrace him as a teammate.''
Feely said he doesn't know Williams personally, but added that he doesn't believe Cameron would bring him back because of the coach's repeated emphasis on having players with good character.

Feeley can shut his fat mouth. He isnt a great kicker and hes new and also has no idea what playin with Ricky would be like, so he should let coaches do there jobs and warm up his leg. If it was JT or Zach Thomas sayin this I wouldnt say this.

Very good question!! I agree with Davey, Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas both played with the dude. So they know what he's like. This could be something that would help the Dolphins, except not really because they'll still be atrocious. They don't have that line they had in 2002
