Mike Berardino of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder caused quite a stir with his celebrated back and forth with Jets coach Rex Ryan, which dominated the news cycles for several days last week. Crowder crowned the Jets "OTA champions" and Ryan mentioned how he'd "walked over tougher guys" than Crowder on his way to fights.
It was all very amusing everywhere except inside the Dolphins' offices.
General Manager Jeff Ireland said on Wednesday he would "deal with that myself," while coach Tony Sparano refused to address the matter other than to say, "This is June."
So when Dolphins Vice President Bill Parcells spent a few minutes counseling Crowder during a Saturday afternoon practice session, it was assumed the Ryan shenanigans may have been among the prime topics.
"Parcells was just cool," Crowder said in his first public comments since calling off the flap himself at midweek. "He'll come up and mess with you a little bit, just say some junk, fool with you, sometimes talk bad to you. You know he did coach linebackers for 160 years. He does know what he 's talking about."
Crowder did not directly answer a question about whether Parcells had told him to stop tweaking Ryan and the Jets, but the linebacker did say Saturday's talk was "mostly football."
