MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Vikings cornerback Fred Smoot and tackle Bryant McKinnie will go on trial on charges stemming from a boat-party sex scandal.

Smoot's trial is scheduled to begin May 30 while McKinnie's is slated for July 7. Both players are charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct, indecent conduct, and lewd and lascivious behavior.

Neither player appeared in court Wednesday for a hearing that was expected to deal with defense motions to dismiss charges.

Last month, former Vikings running back Moe Williams was convicted of disorderly conduct in connection with the cruise. Similar charges against former Minnesota quarterback Daunte Culpepper were dismissed.

In Williams' trial, the prosecution described the Oct. 6 cruise as a raunchy party in which women on the boat changed into thong underwear and bras, gave players lap dances and, in some cases, stripped naked.

even if they are found guilty it's only a misdemeanor and we all know that is a joke, but when your rich it seems your above the law

Your definetly above the law. Heck if Ray Lewis can get away with murder, if PacMan can get away with his assaults as well as Kobe Byrant. Steve McNair with his gun possession and DUI. So yeh there is nothing to worry about.

yeah and it just makes me sick. even though i'm a Vikings fan i would like to seem Smoot and McKinnie get the book throwen at them just as it would have been for anyone else.

What about Jayson Williams in the NBA. He actually pulls the trigger, but gets no jail time. When is it going to stop? These guys play a game and get away with anything they want.

I personally dont think it is ever going to stop. The sad part is that guys like Kobe Bryant are looked up to by lil kids. And society portrays them as role models and they get away with what ever they want.

I don't know. I would love to see some other players (Jerramy Stevens, Ahmad Carroll, etc.) get the book thrown at them. Smoot and McKinnie didn't do anything that you and I haven't done.. I think it's kind of a cirus trial...

no matter what happens, mick, it will never stop until someone actually educates this kids when they are young to know what's right and wrong. Since that won't happen anytime soon, each person that does this type of stuff will think of themselves as individuals instead of part of something bigger. They will rationalize to themselves that nothing bad will happen to them, cause they are not accountable for thier actions, even if a peer is held accountable. It won't matter.
