Vikings coach Brad Childress was talking tough once again Sunday while his players fell mute -- possibly by force -- in the wake of safety Dwight Smith's citation for indecent conduct.
Childress indicated that he will discipline Smith, whom police found in a stairwell with a 24-year-old Hudson, Wis., woman early Saturday morning. That punishment likely will fall short of an outright release, considering Smith was practicing with the rest of the Vikings' starters Sunday at Winter Park. Childress, however, refused to rule out that possibility.
A day after the Vikings jettisoned receiver Koren Robinson, who was arrested Aug. 15 for drunken driving and fleeing police, Childress acknowledged that his mission to create a "culture of accountability" remains a work in progress.
