Following a physical training camp, many Vikings players say they are looking forward to the 11-day break that will come between the team's preseason finale Thursday at Dallas and the regular-season opener on Sept. 11 at Washington.
"It's a lot" of time, quarterback Brad Johnson said. "But I do know it has been a hard camp on us, and I know we've got the weekend off. Even though we're not banged up, we need to just kind of freshen our legs up. That will be good for us."
Safety Darren Sharper also sees the benefit of playing in the second-to-last game in Week 1 of the season. "I like to get rested up for the first game, get all the bruises out," he said. "That way you can go out there and fly around for that first game."
